About us

The company was founded by Wilhelm András in 2014. Before establishing the business, András traveled to Austria, where he mastered the art of mead making.
Years of extensive experimentation bore fruit, as over time his products have won numerous international awards.
Among others, they have received several medals at the Great Taste Award (London), the Mazer Cup International, the world’s largest mead competition held in Denver (US), as well as the Mead Madness Cup (Warsaw).

Mead making is a unique and unfamiliar world for many. When we talk about it, the same questions tend to come up time and again – and we answer them below:

- What kind of wine was mixed with the honey?

None. Because to make mead, you only need three things: water, honey, and yeast.

- Why did you start making mead?

That would be a very long answer, so here’s the short version:
I started beekeeping when I was 16 years old, and I was always interested in finding ways to sell my honey differently — to make honey consumption more diverse by creating a new product from it. Besides being a delicious, exciting, and trendy drink, mead can be made in countless ways. From bone-dry to super sweet, from natural to fruity and spiced, anything is possible.
For example, compare a light, citrusy mead made from linden honey with a dark, cola-colored forest honey mead that has chocolatey notes. Or compare the soft harmony of mead made from Hungarian acacia honey with one aged in Tokaji Aszú barrels made from chestnut honey. Think also of the acacia honey collected from the plains around Szeged versus that from the cooler slopes of the Cserhát hills. And I’ve only mentioned the types of honey — not even the combinations of fruits, spices, yeasts, and nutrients that can also greatly influence the taste, aroma, and character of the final product.
So for us, mead is the definition of craftsmanship.

- Mead or honey beer?

The simplest definition, in my opinion:

  • mead = water + honey + yeast
  • honey beer = water + honey + malt + hops

- How long should the honey be boiled?

I didn’t really understand the question. We actually don’t use any heat treatment at all in order to keep the honey a healthy product. This way, the nutritional effect of mead is similar to that of eating honey itself.

- What are your goals?

To make the best mead in the world. To present world-class mead both in our country and to the global craft beverage community, to celebrate our own community of fans, and to grow. We also have a big dream of making honey beer, and experiments are already underway. Another goal of mine is to open a taproom where I can personally serve our meads and honey beers.
So guys, if you’re fans of Vikings and medieval legends — would you like to join me? Throughout the history of civilization, nearly every culture has made and drunk mead. We particularly value the northern heritage of mead because we love all the history connected to it. Mead has heritage, it has meaning — it connects us to both the past and the future.
